Across my career, I’ve written, spoken, and taught with one core goal: to elevate the voices of students who are too often unheard. My work as an educator, scholar, and equity strategist is rooted in a commitment to justice, belonging, and transformative learning. Pedagogies of Voice

Pedagogies of Voice is a practical and visionary guide for transforming classrooms into spaces of student agency and identity affirmation. Co-authored with Marlo Bagsik and Crystal M. Watson, the book introduces four core domains—Identity, Belonging, Inquiry, and Efficacy—through stories, strategies, and tools grounded in lived experience and research. Drawing from the Street Data framework and equity-centered design, Pedagogies of Voice invites educators to radically reimagine their practice by centering students’ voices in both what and how we teach. My chapter focuses on the power of culturally sustaining pedagogy and microaffirmations to reshape classroom dynamics, especially for students from marginalized communities.
