Dr. Sawsan Jaber, NBCT

Dr. Sawsan Jaber is a National Board Certified Teacher, educator, author, and curriculum leader with more than twenty years of experience advancing equity-centered teaching and learning. Grounded in her Human-Centered Pedagogy framework and informed by the collective Pedagogies of Voice (2025) framework, her work bridges research and practice to humanize school spaces and reimagine what rigorous learning can be.

She centers identity, dignity, and belonging as prerequisites for academic excellence, strengthening students’ self-concept so they see themselves as capable, critical, and connected global citizens. Her work cultivates criticality and self-advocacy, positioning young people as agents of social transformation rather than passive recipients of content.

Dr. Jaber believes this is systems work. As such, she designs community-based learning experiences that move beyond isolated strategies toward sustainable instructional and cultural shifts. Across K–12 and higher education contexts, she partners with schools and organizations to redesign curriculum and instruction through deep listening, critical inquiry, and culturally sustaining practice. Her approach ensures that curriculum does not merely deliver content, but affirms humanity, expands intellectual agency, and creates classrooms where students are not only seen and heard, but empowered to think boldly and shape the world around them.

Educator

I did not enter education to deliver content, I entered it to reawaken humanity in our practice and praxis.

I design classrooms where identity is not an afterthought, but the foundation. I believe students deserve more than access; they deserve to recognize themselves in the curriculum, to feel a deep sense of belonging, and to know their voices carry weight.

My work is about shifting power. It is about building learning spaces where students are invited into critical conversations, where their lived experiences are treated as knowledge, and where rigor and joy coexist. I partner with educators and school communities to move beyond compliance-driven models of schooling and toward human-centered environments that cultivate agency, criticality, and self-advocacy.

In my classrooms and in the spaces I support, students are not simply managed or measured. They are listened to. They are challenged. They are affirmed. And they are prepared to lead with courage in a complex world.

Speaker

I don’t step onto a stage to motivate for a moment. I step onto a stage to move systems.

As a global speaker who has presented at hundreds of events across the world, I engage educators in the urgent work of rehumanizing schools. My talks confront the realities of systemic bias, challenge deficit narratives, and center student voice as a lever for transformation, not as a trend, but as a responsibility.

Whether delivering a national keynote, leading an international institute, or facilitating district professional learning, I blend research, lived experience, and practical strategy. Audiences leave not only inspired, but equipped with language, tools, and a clear pathway to build inclusive, justice-centered learning environments.

My sessions are rigorous and relational. I invite educators to think critically, reflect honestly, and lead courageously, so that every student is not just included, but affirmed, challenged, positioned as powerful, and has a deep sense of belonging.

Curriculum Consultant

Curriculum is never neutral. It either reinforces the status quo or it expands who gets to belong, lead, and imagine.

As a curriculum consultant, I partner with schools and organizations to design learning experiences that are intellectually rigorous, culturally sustaining, and human-centered. I work alongside educators to interrogate whose knowledge is centered, whose stories are missing, and how instructional design can affirm identity while cultivating critical thinking.

My consulting bridges pedagogy and policy, ensuring that what we believe about equity is reflected in what students actually experience each day. Grounded in deep listening and responsive practice, I help schools move from performative commitments to actionable systems so curriculum does not simply cover standards, but cultivates agency, belonging, and excellence for every learner.

Dr. Sawsan's Work

Transforming education through equity, belonging, humanity, and student voice.

For more than two decades, my work has been grounded in one conviction: education should feel human. Every student deserves learning experiences that recognize their identity, honor their story, and cultivate a deep sense of belonging.

I partner with schools and organizations across the world to design classrooms and systems that prioritize dignity, voice, and agency. My work strengthens curriculum not just to meet standards, but to nurture self-concept, curiosity, and critical thinking. Through deep listening and intentional design, I help educators create environments where students are invited into meaningful dialogue, challenged to think expansively, and trusted as contributors to knowledge.

Dr. Sawsan's Services

Partnering with schools, districts, and organizations to design human-centered, high-impact learning environments.

Whether through keynote speaking, immersive professional learning, or strategic consulting, I work alongside education communities to reimagine what powerful teaching and learning can look like. My approach blends research-informed practice with deep listening, reflective dialogue, and actionable design always centering the lived experiences of students and educators.

I help systems move from vision to implementation: redesigning curriculum, strengthening instructional practice, cultivating student voice, and building cultures where belonging is tangible and sustained. This work is not about quick fixes, it is about thoughtful, intentional transformation grounded in the belief that every student carries brilliance.

Together, we build schools that do more than function efficiently. We build schools that feel human: places where rigor, relationship, and agency coexist, and where communities

Dr. Sawsan’s Publications

Across my career, my writing, speaking, and teaching have been anchored in one essential commitment: cultivating the conditions where voice becomes power. My work as an educator and scholar centers the lived experiences of students, particularly those whose stories are at the margins and positions their knowledge as foundational to transformative learning.

Grounded in the principles that shaped Pedagogies of Voice, my scholarship bridges classroom practice with broader conversations about identity, belonging, and agency. The publications and collaborative projects featured here reflect that through-line. Whether contributing to books, writing for educators, or presenting at national conferences, each piece emerges from real classrooms, real dialogue, and a belief that when we center voice, we reshape what schooling makes possible.

Signature Keynote

Dr. Jaber’s signature keynote, Awakening a Human-Centered Pedagogy, is an invitation and a reckoning. In a moment when schools are pressured by speed, standardization, the pressure of AI integration, and silence, I call educators back to the heart of the work: our shared humanity.

This keynote challenges audiences to move beyond performative initiatives and into practices that honor identity, cultivate belonging, and strengthen intellectual agency. Through personal narrative, research, and classroom-grounded examples, I  explore what it means to design learning environments where dignity is non-negotiable and voice is foundational.

Educators leave with more than inspiration, they leave with clarity. Clarity about how to shift power in their classrooms, how to center deep listening, and how to build cultures where rigor and relationship coexist. Awakening a Human-Centered Pedagogy is not about adding something new to an already full plate; it is about remembering why we teach and redesigning schools accordingly.
